It's A Curse

See, even when I play Backyard Baseball, the A's can't get any RBIs:

Is that 10 hits or 16 hits? 16 might be what the actual MLB record is for hits in a 9-inning shutout.

It's sixteen. Plus five errors by the White Sox. 21 baserunners, 0 runs scored: that's A's baseball 2005.

(Full disclosure: this is a joke. I deliberately didn't swing the bat with RISP, just like the real A's.)

What is the Backyard Baseball you speak of? Any good?

It's a video game by Atari. Has major league players as kids, playing together with "regular" kids on various kinds of sandlots. It's a cute game, fun for young kids like mine, but the hard-core gamer wouldn't think much of it, I suspect.

There are really two kinds of baseball gamers. The baseball mogul types and the RBI baseball types.

I am more of the RBI type. I want to actually hit the ball, as opposed to just managing.

Although, I do get a kick out of the owner mode stuff in the new MVP baseball.

So, I'd probably like Backyard baseball. I was just playing Baseball Stars the other day.

MLB Heavyweight Champion

If MLB champs were decided like boxing: beat the champ, and you're the champ.

The 2008 season started with the Red Sox as champs. They were beaten by the A's, who were beaten back by Boston, who were then swept by Toronto, who lost to Oakland, who lost to Cleveland, and so on, until we reached our current champion.

The Heavyweight of the Year is the team that wins the most title bouts at the end of the season.

Current Champion (as of 5/17):
Cincinnati Reds
