MLB Heavyweight Champion

If MLB champs were decided like boxing: beat the champ, and you're the champ.

The 2008 season started with the Red Sox as champs. They were beaten by the A's, who were beaten back by Boston, who were then swept by Toronto, who lost to Oakland, who lost to Cleveland, and so on, until we reached our current champion.

The Heavyweight of the Year is the team that wins the most title bouts at the end of the season.

Clunk! Bam! Crash! What's that sound?

It's the sound of an A's prospect plummeting down the rankings of top A's prospects, that's what it is. For it turns out the name Jairo Garcia is not spelled "Jairo Garcia", it's only pronounced that way. It's actually spelled "Santiago Casilla". Oh, and this Santiago Casilla fellow is nearly three years older than "Jairo Garcia".

What are we going to find out next, that Dan Haren isn't actually Dutch? Oh, yeah, that too.

So does Mexican plus Irish equal Dutch?

Maybe when his mom and dad were dating, they went Dutch.

Yea, he`s older than he claimed but that doesn`t completely negate the performances he`s had. This probably means he`s less of an injury risk as well.

I own a Dutch oven... perhaps I could pitch for the Netherlands.

Rob Neyer has an article on Frank Thomas's expected production this season...anybody have any idea what he's expecting?

Sigh..a little part of me died when Neyer became Insider only
