MLB Heavyweight Champion

If MLB champs were decided like boxing: beat the champ, and you're the champ.

The 2008 season started with the Red Sox as champs. They were beaten by the A's, who were beaten back by Boston, who were then swept by Toronto, who lost to Oakland, who lost to Cleveland, and so on, until we reached our current champion.

The Heavyweight of the Year is the team that wins the most title bouts at the end of the season.

Might As Well DL Frank Thomas
2006-06-15 11:33
by Ken Arneson

Frank Thomas tweaked his quad muscle again, and since he would probably have to miss a couple of games this weekend, and the following nine games are all in National League parks where he wouldn't play anyway, the A's put him on the DL.

How convieeeeeeeeeenient. He'll be eligible to return when the A's come back home, where the DHes roam, and the pitchers don't swing bats all year.

Jeremy Brown replaces him on the 25-man roster. It's the third time he's been called up this year. He hasn't played yet. Here's hoping he gets at least one AB this time.

This serial Brown callup so he can enjoy the view from the Oakland dugout is a ringing indictment of Keith Ginter more than anything.

Well, Ginter isn't on the 40-man roster so to call him up, they'd have to let someone else go.

Point taken; had forgotten that.

It would be nice for Brown to get a few AB's but with a third catcher on the team, hopefully Melhuse gets some playing time.

Ooops. They sent Brown back down again. That was fast... (Added a pitcher in the wake of the 17 inning game last night).
